Delicious Holiday Recipes
By Rebecca Franklin, About.com Guide

This French Canadian Thanksgiving menu celebrates the autumn harvest with seasonal recipes. Indulge in apples, cheese, onions, potatoes, squash, turkey, and everything else that is in season during the cooler months. This list is something of an extreme menu, one that you would serve if you had forty guests coming and several days to prepare. The beauty is that you can pick your favorites, mix and match, and stay within a budget because these dishes are made with inexpensive seasonal ingredients. More potatoes, anyone?

Don't know about French Canadian, but we always had a fiest, on the holiday. It is my favorite, even more so than Christmas.

I have Garden Cocktail and Cranberry Juice, a Turkey breast as there will be two, possibly 3 if my friend Bert doesn't go to his family, I bought boxed stuffing, and to it I will add shallots, mushrooms and additional spices (thyme, ginger (stops spices from repeating, need only a pinch depending on the amount of dressing), sage, and poultry seasoning). I plan to have spinach, turnip and cauliflower with white cheddar cream sauce. Mashed potatoes for the gravy (which I make with corn starch), along with cranberries, pickles, and have a mixed berry pie for dessert. I heard on Rachael Ray that you put nutmeg in mashed potatoes. Was thinking of trying it but might wait for another occasion. Wouldn't want to spoil my dinner.
