I am very saddened over the death of Christopher Bowman, a very great skater. If anybody has a chance to see him skate on DVD or video you can see how talented he was. Almost four years ago, when I came back to AA after going back out for a time some one said something at that meeting that touched my heart. He said,"welcome back, some of us don't make it back." I guess that is really true.

It is true, I think. Some of us never make it here, the first time, either. And, going back out, people don't always make it back.

I've had a lot of friends die.

It's bad enough that anyone dies who has, for whatever reason, been denied the treatment that could have saved their life. It's even more heartbreaking when they refuse the treatment that IS available to them, through their own denial that they are fatally ill in the first place.
We must never, ever forget that by Gods grace, we are the lucky ones. We must never miss an opportunity to pass on the AA message.
As they say in AA "you have to give it away to get it". For it's by helping others that we are constantly reminded who we are, Where we came from, and what we could be again.

God help us all,

anguss.

Making it back after a belly full of AA is tricky. The man which was not my father that walked me down the aisle at my wedding had about 3 years sobriety and he aways said i think i have another drunk but i don't think i have another sobering up in me. This man went from living under the bridge to owning 2 shrimp boats and his own car in that 3 years and went back out and lost everything in 2 weeks and died a year later drunk. We all tried to get thru to him but this disease is cunning baffling and powerful and sneaky....doing push-ups outside. with all that said he had to die to let me know that "going back out" is not an option for me. As Johnnie used to say stick with the winners. Life is funny in AA when you start looking at everone you meet as a teacher or not so funny. What does LOL mean? Love Teresa
