Food For Thought

This reminded me of the saying, "You can't live on Bread alone." Perhaps, it is "Love" but bread has always been a big love of mine. The kind is home made, sliced thick, still warm from the oven, slathered with lots of butter.

I like how it says that I need spiritual food. That feeling of hunger isn't always about needing to have 'food' but as it says here, we need to have faith and reach out to our Higher Power.

My Higher Power is constant. Like all things, when it comes to bread or other food, 'this too shall pass' and the hunger returns time and time again.

At the first twinge, I reach. Other times I think, I gee I shouldn't be hungry, I just ate. A good indicator that I need more than bread and water and any other kind of physical sustenance.

For those of religious persuasion, the Bible says, "Jesus said, "I am the Bread of Life." I think no matter who you believe in, your Higher Power is what we need in our life to make the difference..

Thanks Jo, I needed to read this today, I have been struggling with the food thing again. I pray about it. I find myself with something healthy, so I ate, I am no longer hungry..well whats a good huge bowl of ice cream with fudge going to do..or cookies (i eat the whole bag) The Lord say no I have had my fill, I will feel bloated and sick tomorrow..Am I ignoring God and taking my will back? I think so , God is there to help me get through this struggle. Like a drink or drug, one food can lead to a binge...this is an addiction for me and a way not to feel. The steps are there for me to use. Peace Schell
