a spirital beginning...

After the true darkness and death of my spirit in alcohol and drug abuse, I entered a state treatment center in the shadows of the projects in Chicago for cocaine and alcohol. I was at deaths door. We began each day with biblical readings which meant something to us..I did not get it. One night, about two weeks in, I feel to my knees. In tears I said "God, whoever you are, whatever you are, I don't know what to do, I need help, I don't know what to do, please show me!" I went to bed and fell into a deep sleep. This was 2001. The next day I woke up with a new hope. I felt a change. I put myself into the program. Some of the girls had been suggesting a church we could go to by bus every Sunday. I finally became willing to go. It was powerful. I cried. I was drawn in with praise to the Lord and a powerful blessing by a preacher from Trinidad. I had my first spiritual experience. This is what happened. "And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it..." I never stopped getting on my knees, even after my relapse over 5 years later. Just thought I would share. When you reach out to another human being you become an angel through acts
of kindness, charity and generosity it is like throwing the light switch
to open yourself to the current of love. When you turn on love, you are
tuning into that part of yourself which is connected to God and the angels.
Each act of care for one another human being is an opportunity presents to
learn about the power of love as a source of constant blessings. Try this
yourself, and watch what happens. I find if I want the closeness with God,
the Angelic Kingdom and the Enlightened Masters, then creating a flow of
blessings is only one step away.
Have you ever noticed that when you give you receive?
This is why the Angelic Kingdom is close to the Source of All Goodness,
Beauty, Love and Joy, because they are always part of the flow of giving
blessings. The more blessing you give, the more blessings you receive. When you
give blessings you become like the angels in the sense that you are an
important part of the distribution network of High Love.
I am sure you have. There are times when the gifts you receive often times
were never imagined at the beginning of the experience. You never really
know where the journey of love will lead you at the outset of the
experience. But, if you reach out to someone around you that is hurting and in need,
often you receive the gift of love in return in a way that leaves a trace
of blessings. You simply feel connected to your deeper self, to God, and to
the Angelic Kingdom. Like does indeed attract like.
Here is a story my friend Monika shared with me. Ask yourself if Monica's
tale of caring for another person creates a flow of blessings for you too.
You might find yourself nodding your head in agreement, “Yes, I have been
there when I performed a random act of kindness.”
“Someone just gave me a precious gift. While drinking my cup of coffee
outside at a cafe I was feeling slightly alone. A disabled man approached me
asking for food. My first reaction was judgment because of his appearance.
But then something happened. I bought him as much food that I could afford
to. He ate with me at my table while I drank my coffee. We sat together for
some time talking about life. The love that I felt towards him was
priceless. I asked him his name, and he replied, “Edward”. I want to thank Edward
for this gift of inspirational human love we experienced in a moment where
two people shared some time together just being, just talking, simply
connecting. Edward reached out when he was hurting and hungry. I reached out to
help him enjoy a delicious meal. It wasn't a big gesture, just a simple act
of caring and sharing. I would have cooked him a meal if he was a friend
coming over to my house for lunch, then why not buy him breakfast at this
cafe. I lost the feeling of loneliness and found the reminder that expressing
kindness was easy to do, leaving me feeling filled by love. He gave me
something I needed, a feeling of connection to life. I say that when I
expressed love in caring for him, I felt loved. I don't feel alone anymore. I
realized we are all ONE family here to help each other in times of need.”

When you express love and compassion towards others through random acts of
kindness something amazing happens. You are blessed as well by the energy
of love flowing through you to the person in need. You know love through
expressing love. You experience love when giving love in service to others.
love is a current that is ours only when you maintain the flow of love.
When the opportunity presents itself to help someone, reach out to that
person like an angel. You are a servant of love. When you express love and
compassion to others.
