Dear Freinds,
For the past 18 months I have been commuting to a neighboring island on Monday mornings and returning home on Friday nights. I have been attending lots of meetings, working with other alcoholics, working on the problem with me. When I first started commuting, I accepted the position becauses I had been struggling with character defects and thoughts that I had not had since first getting sober.
I prayed for guidance and I prayed for change. I accepted the position seeing it as a door opening for me. On the island where I live, there is basic medical care, but anything serious needs to be taken care of in Hawaii or the Philippines, or the mainland US.
I started having medical issues in October of 2005. If I had remained on my home island, I would have kept putting off seeing a physician. But since I was on Guam, where seeing a DR. was easy, I went to see one and found out I had a problem with my arteries. I eventually had a coronary bypass in Manila and I am doing very well. During my stay in Manila, (I shared this in a previous post), I contacted the ward chaplain to get in touch with AA for a visit and was pleasently surprised when 3 alcoholics showed up in my hospital room. I eventually made it back to Saipan, continued to go to meetings, and in September I went back to work.
I learned this week that I will be heading back home, permanently and will get my old job back. I beleive that God answered my prayers and help me to get well both physically and spiritually. But that is just my belief. I believe that God answers prayer. I believe that if you put your life in God's hands, he will take care of you. He has taken care of me.
I have made many new friends and ii will miss them. But with the miracle of email, they will only be one message away.

Hi Wolf,

Glad you got your health sorted out. I agree with you 100% about putting your life in God's hands. He does what's best for us, although at the time we might not see it, it will become clear. I KNOW this and have done for a long time, just not sure how to actually go about it yet!

I really hope you enjoy going back to your old job. At least you don't have to commute anymore.

Have a wonderful weekend (I'm leaving work now at 12 midday and won't be back till Tuesday!).

I find your posts really inspirational and helpful.

Yvonne ;D

Wolf, Your a credit to yourself and to the fellowship of AA. Thanks for your share. If ever we need reasurance that the power of prayer works then it can be seen in your past experience.
I often hear newcomers (and not so newcomers) say that they have tried praying, but nothing happens. Whats the use?
Persevering is very often difficult for us alcoholics. We like the quick solutions, the instant fix, immediate gratification, orgasm without love, stisfaction without the effort....
But one thing is for sure, if you don't try it and keep trying, it won't work. But if you do, it will.

God help us all,
anguss.

Wolf, thank you!

Seems like my Higher Power is capable and able to do things I can't even understand. I really appreciated the hope in your sharing!

Am so happy for you and so happy to see how it works, in your life!
