I have been a Christian all of my life. I have been sober almost 4 months and I can see the signs listed above in my life now. My faith and my contact with God has tremendously grown as I "Let Go and Let God" and as I let God's will be done instead of my will.

Thank you so much for sharing. I was raised in the church and it didn't stop me from becoming an alcoholic/addict. I gave my life to God at the age of 10 at a Bible Camp. I was baptized at 14. Taught Sunday School at 16 and 17. Dedicated my life at 18 at a Youth for Christ meetings. Sang in the choir from the time I was 17 until I was married at 21. Sang in the church from the time I was able to talk with my sister as a trio. We sang with our mother every night after dinner, she played the piano and my dad even joined in when he was in the mood.

When I came into recovery, I thought I knew who God was. I found out that God was an old tape. I had thought I had made Him personal. What I hadn't done was build a relationship with Him. I played lip service and took Him with me on my journey when it was convenient as long as He didn't get in the way of me having 'fun' and doing what I wanted to do!

I didn't know that I could do that with Him. I spent so many years looking outside for something to make me happy when all I had to do was go within and connect with Him. What I didn't know was that: He wasn't way out there! He wasn't just in church! He didn't go any where, I did! When I surrendered and gave my life to Him, He didn't give it back. He was there all along waiting for me to acknowledge Him.
