It requires extra effort to maintain abstinence during a particularly difficult time when we are especially tempted. Entertaining guests, visiting family, coping with a crisis - there are some times when it seems to take every ounce of strength we have to stay abstinent.
When the crisis has passed, we breathe a sigh of relief and are grateful that life is back to normal. This, for many of us, is the danger point. Having made it through the difficult situation, we may feel that we are now safe and can let down our guard. We may even feel that we deserve a reward for having said no to temptation.

For me, when stressed, I like my comfort food. Even at the best of times, I still like my garlic mashed potatoes and gravy.
For me, it was a battle not to replace my drug of choice with food. When I quit cigarettes especially, it was important to me to use my program rather than food when I quit. I lost three pounds. Later due to medications and emotions, I put on weight because I didn't make healthy choices when it came to eating.
I have been having a difficult time with food since my hours of sleep have been irregular. Eating dinner for breakfast. Eating meals several hours later than normal. When it comes to bet 5 p.m. I think I should have dinner. Yet I may have only been awake 2 or 3 hours.
It is about being ever watchful. Lately food hasn't tasted good so haven't been eating as much. Eating the proper amount for engery and nutrient are important. I just try to have healthy choices from all the food groups. There are healthy fats and unhealthy fats.
