I'm trying again. I quit 4 years ago, but because of a couple of SMALL emotional set backs I started again this summer. Just one or two won't hurt me, but after a week, it was 3 or 4. Then it was a pack. Today i want to be smoke free, just for today.

I thank my higher power. I ask humbly in the morning to remove the cravings and anxiety that have wrecked my attempts before. He has answered the prayer. I believe that a moment at a time we can do this. Thanks for caring.

Day 7 walking with my Higher Power. I have the fleeting thought that "Just One" won't hurt........ Who Will Know?" I understand the members that are in and out with alcohol.
Thank you for your thoughts.

My prayers are with you. It isn't easy. Was just shairng with my son today, "Pray for the willingness to be willing." I had to break the habits that went with the smoking. I had to give up the coffee which was a trigger, had to get busy after dinner, clear the table, do the dishes and not have that after dinner cigarette which was the hardest to give up.

Thank you my friends. Day 10 about done. Doing one or two meetings a day. I don't think it is dangerous to be around me. Amazing, how many times before I would give up because I caught myself in a situation, where I wanted to HURT someone. Thank you all my friends.

Happy for you. I quit three days before Christmas, figured if I could get through the holidays, I would never had a reason to pick another one up ever again. That was 12 years ago. I still get cravings, but just for today, I choose not to pick up a cigarette. I may want one, yet I know that for me, to pick up a cigarette, is certain death and I choose to live. They say you can't have a craving unless you injest or use the substance. With all the second hand smoke and thoughts of old habits as to when I used them, it can be difficult without a spiritual defense. I use the 12 Steps to quit and they have been my armor.
I went to NA and picked up key tags for the first year. We had no Nicotine Anonymous meetings. Nicotine is a drug for sure. It is mind altering and I used it to change my moods, to not eat, to calm me, to give me comfort, as a stress reliever and to shut my mouth so I wouldn't blurp out what I really wanted to say.

Today was Day three without any nicotine substitute. There weren't any delusions like the other day. Anxious, nervous, yes but HP helped when asked. using the AA program, asking for help in the AM. If I forget it is really tough. Thanking in the evening is important, and knowing that help is beside me all day.

Thanks for you prayers. The last few days have not been easy. I tried several days without a nicotine substitute. I was going nuts. Imagining things, irritable, unable to concentrate. not ready to be without yet, but not smoking.

Nicotine addiction is hard as i am a addict and will hopefully get enough courage to quit soon. I commend you on your efforts and sharing! I am going thru stresses ie laid off for 6 mos, no car, isolation, and alot of awareness in the steps (very difficult). Today, I went to Walmart and got some vitamins called stress tabs that have high Vitamin C, B12, etc. for stess, memory focus, and energy. Maybe that can benefit you during this time? Thank you for sharing!

Vitamin B is good for what ever drug you are coming off of. I took a B compund in early recovery and watched B levels over the years.
For women it is important to get Vitamin D to help absorb the calcium needed for healthy bones and teeth. I never liked milk and calcium has always been an issue and one of the reasons that I have been labelled with 5 types of arthritis.

Sometimes that is all we can do. I go to my online home group and look at old posts and look for the spiritual message I need, they give me the strength, courage and hope I need whenever I come up against a feeling, a situations and/or a decision.
I am not always able to get out to meetings and so grateful for the opportunity to share on line, here and on other sites.

Through the process of change in working the steps I too am finding reading old posts to bring awareness and change in myself, very helpful, and am very grateful for the ESH. When I am in the solution through God and in the steps it seems to keep me focused and to remember there is hope, there is a solution, and that the promises of the program do come true. Have a blessed day!
