Sending prayers for you both. I tried my way for eight years, but I didn't know about AA. When I got to AA, my sponsor said, "You can learn two things, how to work your program and how NOT to work your program." I am grateful to the people who did my research for me and I didn't have to go back out once I got here. I was told to keep it simple and go back to basics when I was having difficulties.

Got to meetings, get a sponsor, get a home group, and get active. Active for me was working the steps and getting involved in service. The best place for me was at the door saying, "Hi, my name is JoAnne and I am an alcoholic/addict.
