I'm afraid of elevators.

and as for steps... well, do they have to be done in order?

I have always avoded novels that come written as a 'series' (too much disclipline and it doesn't feel right to read them NOT in order!!) Or what if I get to the middle and don't really like them.. but still feel compelled to finish the series.

Okay.. so I feared the elevator.
and my sponsor (bless her soul!) was able to grok my fear of 'steps' as well (Stranger in a Strange land is NOT part of a trilogy.. grok?) So, she found just the right balance of dragging me up the dozen of them and letting me be until I was ready to take the next one.

Soon as I was ready she'd whoosh on over here, 'cause she knew that sometimes, 'readiness' not addressed means you don't move at all. As it turns out, the incubation phases in between the steps helped ME to get past my fears of letting go (and letting God) and the agonizing at the brink of four through six made it even more apparent that I am NOT as bad or as empty as I'd feared I'd learn I was.

So.. yeah. No elevators.
Good things take time.
