SORRY NO EASY OUTS

We have found that self-help doesn't work for us alcoholics. You may not be one of us. If you are, get to an AA meeting and get some 1 on 1 suggestions. I can guarantee you that there will be some interesting experiences detoxing.

It can be dangerous to detox at home. For one thing, you can go into grand mal seizures.

You may want to detox in a hospital environment or somehwere where someone can help you.

Detox suggestion 1 = Step 1.
Detox suggestion 2 = Step 2.
Detox suggestion 3 = Allow someone who has walked it ahead of you to make suggestions. Think about them. Give them a go, even if you think they won't work. You cannot do it alone.

Good luck.

I am sorry you are in such a situation.

Please let me explain..we are not medical proffessionals so we can not suggest a safe de tox.

We are just alcoholics staying sober.

I suggest you do go to an AA meeting and ask for help.
Sometimes AA members will stay with you while you de tox.
There are also resources in your area they
might know of for a free de tox.
The Salvation Armu runs them in some places.

A county/city ER does not charge if you have no funds
A private hospital will.
I am not talking about a treatment center..but de tox.

I do hope you will find an answer..
Prayers and Hugs..

Paul, Hi.

I am glad to hear that you are feeling some better!

The hot bath sounds great!

I took B vitamins and vitamin C early on, and tried to limit my intake of caffiene (I love coffee).

They told me both caffiene and sugar would amplify my being shaky, but, for me, I found a little chocolate helped me a lot, sometimes.

And AA meetings arew onderful for being able to get sober and stay sober.

I needed help, myslef. I was sober, but shaky and full of fears and worries and anxious and all sorts of crud. Alcohol was my medicine and I couldn't use it, any more. Every time I drank, i would get drunk again.

If you can, get a Big Book...if you need help with that, please hollar. Start reading it...you can probably relate to a lot of it.

The Doctor's opinion is really good...I got a lot from it...also the first chapters begin to explain about the wierd thing about us alcoholics...how we don't mean to drink, but do it anyway.

Guess that's enough yapping from me, for now!

Paul, if we can do this deal, you can do...there are megatons of people who have.

take care today...so glad you posted.

Paul you should go out for a long run and sweat out all those impurities. Also I found that v-8 juice, cranberry juice ,b vitamins (like Samf said.Hi Sam),multivitimins, and bananas may also help. Also sleep ::)

I detoxed at home - pure cold turkey actually - and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! It's a very dangerous thing to do and it could prove fatal unless it's done in a very supportive home environment and with frequent visits from a very clued up doctor, carefully administered medication (only from the doctor) and round the clock sitters. It can be done as I've seen it done successfully under certain conditions but it's not something to be treated lightly or without proper medical intervention at regular intervals.

[glow=red,2,300]You are in my thoughts, my detox was awful but thanks to my higher power it is behind me and I now have 122 days clean and sober. When you are feeling better I hope and pray you will take suggestions and attend a few meetings, and listen with a open heart. Hopefully you will never have to go through this again. God bless, you are not alone.
