I'm so glad this website is here. I've gotten sober twice before with AA but didn't keep working the steps and got complacent. So here I am again with day 1. I'm so freaked out right now, like I might be one of the people that never gets it. My life feels like a bad dream right now. I have a great husband and two beautiful children. I'm going to a meeting tonight. I've gotta get this thing!!

I'm still sober. I have gone to a meeting everyday and I got a sponsor. I am praying, reading the first step everyday, and not thinking about tomorrow.
I'm grateful for this website. "Grateful"...that's a word I hear alot in this program. I hope I never forget.

Hello Tami,? ? ?
My name is Joe and I am an alcoholic. I am a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and this online AA group.
It was difficult for me to ask for help, so I sincerely respect your honesty and courage. If you are anything like me, I had suffered enough, long enough, and that agony motivated me to find relief and freedom. I searched everywhere for help without success. And finally, almost too late, I made the best decision I have ever made: to get involved with Alcoholic Anonymous. That started me on a journey to sobriety and joy. I pray that happens to you, also, Tami.
I respect that you are going to meetings and have a sponsor. You are on your way. For me, AA was a way to a much more sober and peaceful life than I could ever have imagined. And, so it is that, with all sincerity, I encourage, even beg you to be thoroughly open-minded, willing and fearless from the very start. Doing so may lead you, as it did me, on a path where "rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path." Those words are from the book, Alcoholic Anonymous. You may want to read that book. There is a copy online at the AA web page at www.aa.org. (http://www.aa.org.)
We do not do it alone. There are many resources for you in real life and online.? I needed to go to meetings every day at first. I don?t believe I would be here today if I had not done so. I met some really kind and loving people who did not judge me, but understood me and welcomed me. I?m so grateful they were not pushy, just helpful. I am deeply grateful that they were there when I so desperately needed them. They?ll be there for you, too, Angela.
Let us know how you are doing. You are important to us, because we stay sober by helping others. Thanks for that opportunity.

Way to go Tsulli - The best advice I was given when I came to AA was that I would find my own way. I did not believe I would be able to stay off the drink and get a life. I got to a lot of meetings but I left my home after 30 days and moved to Canada - although I understood people in AA telling me no major changes only I knew where I was coming from and for me leaving was my saving grace. I go to the number of meetings that works for me, I don't have one single sponsor - I have several people - who I speak to on a regular basis - I belong to a step gropu and I get outside help - AA can help me with the drinking and find out the route causes of my alcoholism - after 18 months of sobriety I went to councelling and the time was right - our literature states that we do not claim to have all the answers but AA works for me - I tried many routes before but to put the cork in the bottle and keep it there I needed and continue to need the felloweship provided by AA - I need to be understood and the only people who understand me are those just like me - the people in AA.
God bless and enjoy your journey

Hey everyone!!
Thanks for all your responses. I haven't been on here in awhile, my sponsor and my 11 month old keep me busy! I'm still sober (26 days!!) and going to at least 4 meetings a week. I love the people in the program and every morning I get up I'm so happy to not have a hangover. Already, in addition to feeling better physically, my spiritual health has greatly improved with AA, even in such a short time. It's good to get all the junk out and still be accepted by people.

Hello everyone,
Just checking in! Still sober :) Going to at least 4 meetings a week and working with my sponsor. Sometimes it's tough when I see people drinking, but I know where it will take me, so I'm looking forward, not back.
Thanks for being here!

Good on you one day at a time is very hard at first but those days do add up. Drinking is a big part of our colcher where i live witch is Australia so it has always been hard for me. I always listen to the older sober members for help so as long as you keep going to meetings and this can be of great help so just hang in there? ;) Slade
Tami, hi!
So glad that you checked back in and real happy to hear you are doing well!
I wouldn't trade my life to day for all my drinking and drugging days all rolled up together, for sure!
I love meetings, and love being able to grow a day at a time and have a second chance at life!
Hang in there, and if you ever need anything, give a hollar, too!
Hope you'll keep letting us know how you are!!!
(Does my onery old heart good!)
