Here in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norther Ireland the government and local authorities are from to-day introducing different measures to try to reduce the amount of binge drinking and the anti social behaviour that accompanies it in and around public places.
Drinking Banning Orders or 'BDO's will be an option available to police to protect the general public from drink related offences. Offenders would then go in front of the courts and possibly receive an 'ASBO' -short for, Anti Social Behaviour Order - are you getting this.. ??? or a ?2.500 fine. Oh yes, and if the offenders complete a 'positive behaviour intervention course' the ASBO period can be shortened... :o
Further north in Scotland the SNP government, with yet another unfathomable decision, have from today introduced a ban on 'happy hour' style drinking offers in the pubs & clubs and 'two for the price of one deals' - but not in super markets or liquor stores.... :-\
Bar and club managers are to undergo a periodic review every 10 years to asses their competence... ::)
Will all this legislation, judicial red tape and stab in the dark gimmicks actualy have the desired effect? Well, the director of policy for liberty commented that " These new gimmicks give gimmicks a bad name" and she further added "it will be jelly bean asbo's for sugared up kids next"... :-\
The Metropolitan police commander said "the offenders are usualy well known to us and these new powers are another tool to add to our toolbox of measures".... ::)

Phewww... I think I need a meeting. What do you think???

ASBO...sorry., I mean Anguss... :D
