When was the last time you went out on a 12 step call.... ???

The reason I ask is, I just visited the doctors practice from where I was 12 stepped. The 'AA orientated' doc who diagnosed me some years ago has since retired and there is a couple of bright young things practicing there now. After I had my wonky knee looked at I asked how the old doctor was and I reminded the young replacement that I am a recovering alcoholic who's primary purpose is to help still suffering alcoholics and by tring to help them I help myself.
I then asked "do you have any likely candidates at the moment"? and to my surprise the young thing opened right up "yes, yes I do, He's just come out of hospital for the 4th time in 12 months and his family are round here as often as he is asking me why I can't get him straightened out once and for all". The young doc was like a new student at their first lecture as I told her how it was for me, what happened and how it is now and I further went on to explane as briefly as I could how it works.

I've not been getting to as many meetings as I perhaps need lately, so I thought I might take the chance to keep in touch with the part of my recovery that very often gives me the greatest satisfaction by passing this wonderful message on to others who still suffer.

Why don't you treat yourself to a 12 step soon, one way or another it will be worth the effort.

God helps us all,

Anguss

Anguss, thank you.

I haven't been out on a 12 Step call like you are mentioning, for a long while.

Love,

Sam

I really want to help others, too. I think God wants me to do that, after I get myself back into a normal mental state(hopefully I can). I really think that if we're in a position to help someone, we should jump on the oportunity. Thanks for having that attitude! You're a good person......
