I am a newer sober person who is healing day by day, I was/am a song writer performer. Now that I have been clean I am able to play/write much better than when I was loaded continuously (at least I think so). I thought I was good but knew deep down that the alcohol was talking and it was not the real me. Here is my latest music video that I wrote/recorded while completely sober. There is no way I am going back to that lousy way of life and would really like to know what you all think of my attempt to regain my musical abilities as I am an old man now. Thanks for watching/listening and commenting (good or bad). Just left click on the picture and it should get re-directed.

Welcome djazzman, ...
1st of all, I'd like to welcome you to this site ... this is a great place to meet new friends and develop some incredibly good relationships ... This site is a great place to maintain our inspiration to work and stay in the program of recovery ... Personally, I find myself spending several hours a day here both reading the shares and imparting some of my own experiences over the years ... Keep coming back ...
Okay, having said that ... you asked for feedback on your song ... speaking for myself, I thought it was incredibly good ... But, you sang and played MY kind of music, so I'm biased ... I presume you played the guitar as well as singing the song ... the guitar playing was exquisite and beautiful, the kind of sound I can get totally absorbed in ... and your song was sang with a lot of feeling and emotion which to me, is what makes or breaks the feeling of sincerity ... I feel though, your voice may need to come on a little stronger (or maybe it was just the emotion you were feeling as you sang it) ... I'm certainly no expert, and I really honestly loved it and will replay it ... great stuff ...
Also, congratulations on one week sober ... That ain't easy, I know ... Please be sure to go to local meetings where you are and participate in the recovery program of AA ... If you haven't learned already, recovery is something that we could never do on our own ... We must accept help and guidance ... Thanks for being here ...
Take Care and God Bless,:42:

Glad you are here.
The song was beautiful! I love story behind the song since I have five rescued pups myself. Your voice is beautiful. The song was very sad and happy at the same time. Kind of feels like your singing to the bottle too. "let me go" "its time to go". Very good idea and you are on your way:)
Keep coming back and post some more songs...I loved it.

Thank you for your comments so far, it means so much to me. I am thinking clearer, playing much more accurately, breathing better and overall just doing better without the burden of alcohol. I used to think it enhanced my artistry but have since realized it actually impeded it, so the Lord willing I still have time left in this old body and mind to make things right for what abilities I do have. Thank you again and I am glad to be here.

yes
I noticed the same thing
when we were playing
the more stoned we got
things got loose
not tight
as we only thought
deceived once again

I just read this and thought about you:)
Walk In Dry Places
Finding New Values____Restoration
Recovering alcoholics sometimes waste time and energy brooding over lost opportunities, and we do have a record of many lost opportunities! Bill W., the co-founder of AA, once made it big on Wall Street before crashing in the 1929 cataclysm. He later drank away two wonderful chances for a comeback. Most of us can recall similar opportunities we lost by drinking. We can eliminate these regrets by practicing gratitude for the recovery we have made. Without rationalizing, we can remind ourselves that few opportunities would have benefited us if we had continued to drink.
We can take comfort, too, in the clear evidence that there's a wonderful restoration going on in our lives. While not every one gets aback a lost job or rebuilds a business, manly of us do find sufficient prosperity and productive work in our new lives. Some even find satisfying second careers or businesses after getting sober. Best of all, most recovering people discover that sobriety gives them the ability to appreciate their opportunities without worshipping material success.
I will make the best of my opportunities today and see them as stepping stones toward a more abundant life. I will not regret the past, because it brought necessary lesson
