"Do I have to attand the meetings of alcoholics anonymous or can I get by without it"?
How many times have we heard that one I wonder? I for one certainly thought like that when I first came around.
Virtually every alcoholic who is serious about quiting drinking will do better if they are part of a group.
AA groups offer the newcomer the chance to share whats been happening in their lives with others, giving them the chance to be helped, and then in turn to help others.
The ones that stand the most chance are the ones that participate fully in AA by getting a sponsor and using that sponsor by working the twelve steps right from the start.
It's a place to start getting honest with yourself and with others in an atmosphere of trust. Its a place where sobriety is contagious, just like the drinking was contagious in the bar rooms.
I need AA, Its where I get my sober medecine.... :D
